Ethical Wills date back to an account in the Old Testament book of Genesis where a dying father named Jacob gathered his sons to tell them his values, his blessings, and funeral arrangement details. It can also include quotes or stories that inspired you, that you want to pass along as well. It is not a legal document but is a wonderful way to impart what is most important to you to the generations that follow. Of course, this is a technique that can be practiced by anyone.
Unlike a traditional that helps transfer your property and assets, an ethical will is all about sharing life's treasures such as your value statements, beliefs, ethical code, cultural depth, lessons and insights to impart, and even key stories to offer living examples.
Similar to a traditional will, it makes a lot of sense to do while we're still young -- versus waiting to our final days. It is a beautiful tool to help amend perhaps any unfinished business and leave your generations with peace and love.
Give us a call today so we can discuss this with you. Video sessions can run as short as 15 minutes and are very economical. After, you will receive a free PDF helping you outline your own Ethical Will document, and in turn setting up a beautiful and emotionally connecting professional video.
"I have learned that if we don’t tell our children our stories and the stories of those from whom we come, no one else ever will.” -Rabbi Jack Reimer
